Cultural Exchange

We are excited about the new international exchange program we are developing with preschools in Japan. Each year, selected teachers from The First School will go to Japan for ten days to visit preschools and study the Japanese educational system. In exchange, preschool teachers from Japan will come to The First School each year to learn about American preschools. The program provides hands-on experience of Japanese culture for not only teachers, but also children. Prior to the trip, curriculum will center around Japan; children will learn various aspects of the country from food, music and dance, to geography, language and art. The program will also foster the establishment of a relationship between The First School and one or two Japanese preschools.
