Our Community

We believe a strong partnership with families plays an integral part in nurturing the whole child. In addition to scheduled parent-teacher conferences to talk about development, goals, and support, Kim and the teachers make themselves available so that parents can feel comfortable asking questions and sharing ideas. Parents also have opportunities to join the class, chaperone field trips and attend celebrations. There is a weekly newsletter with photos to keep parents informed.

We provide additional support including a wide variety of excellent parent enrichment talks throughout the school year on a range of topics, many of which are supported by guest speakers. Topics include child safety, discipline, technology, private and public elementary school choices, and brain development, to name a few.

Most Importantly, we find that parents just enjoy each other. While our community may be diverse on the surface, we are fundamentally similar: We are a relaxed, down-to-earth, joyous, supportive community simply wanting for our kids to love being kids. Families find that the First School offers the best of both worlds: Each campus is small and cozy creating a natural platform for friendship, yet there is also access to the larger, active, tight-knit community of the whole The First School family.

The authentic and joyful relationships we develop at The FIRST SCHOOL are the heart of our program.
