Alumni Spotlight

Angela Kay

“I am lucky because my journey with The First School has been long and loved filled. I am a proud alumnus, class of 1985, and then got to experience The First School magic as a parent with my daughter, Georgia ('21) and son, Ryder ('24).  Over that 30+ year period, to the credit of our amazing Director, Kim, the philosophy and the magic of The First School has stayed true to its core: a play based pre-school where our children learn to fill their tool box positively, with kindness, learning health coping skills and truly being developmentally prepared to enter the world.  When I came to First School during the summer of 1982, there was the Broadway Campus only led by the original director, Ellie. I still remember our music teacher, Peter, and my teacher Edie and the Broadway campus of the 1980's that looks very similar to the Broadway of today. We even had our own Turtle Dove back then!

“Over the years, this school has been more than just group times, nap times, and play times, but a place where lifelong friendships are made.  My kids and I are still friends with our best friends from First School!

“I feel so fortunate to have been able to get my start at First School and to give the same gift to my children.  The First School wouldn't be what it is without the heart filled dedication of our fearless leader, Kim, and all the dedicated teachers and staff.  Their patience, love and dedication have touched every child who has ever walked through these doors and we are better for it.

“Happy 50th Anniversary, First School! Don't ever change - I hope my grandchildren will be able to attend too.

“I always say, ‘I wish the world had a little more First School in it!’”
