Step 1: Tour
Tour our Ocean Park campus, where the magic of preschool begins. You’ll meet our director, hear about our philosophy and preschool curriculum, and take a look around our special First School space. Adults only, please. If you are interested in touring our second or third-year campuses please email admissions@thefirstschool.org.
Step 2: Submit application
We accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. There is a non-refundable application fee of $75.00.
Step 3: Apply for financial aid (optional)
Financial aid is available to eligible families through The First School Financial Aid Trust, an independent non-profit established in 1999 which underwrites tuition for families who would otherwise be unable to attend our school. Unique among local preschools, our goal is to provide aid to ~15% of families, focusing on those with demonstrated financial need across diverse backgrounds. Financial aid applications are due in March for the following school year. We rely on an independent assessment from Clarity to determine eligibility; allocation amounts vary greatly and can cover up to 98% of tuition. Our parent-attended toddler group meets once per week. Classes are offered both mornings and afternoons.

If your child is not 2 years 5 months by the start of the school year, they may begin as late as January, with a prorated school year tuition.
